Construction of a Clinic at Kabrono, Banda District
- Initial Funding: Netherlands Albert Schweitzer Foundation (NASF)
A Prime Initiatives Project
Prime Initiatives, with initial funding from the Netherlands Albert Schweitzer Foundation (NASF), is constructing a community clinic in Kabrono, a central community serving six adjoining communities in the Banda District of Ghana.
The Need:
Healthcare access in the Banda District is severely limited due to the absence of health facilities. The district lacks a hospital and has no medical doctor, leaving thousands of residents without essential medical care. Banda is a fully rural district and remains one of the poorest in Ghana, making the need for quality healthcare even more urgent.
The Solution:
The Kabrono Clinic project is designed to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services to the residents of Kabrono and surrounding communities.
Community Involvement:
The construction of the clinic is a collaborative effort between Prime Initiatives and the Kabrono community. Residents have contributed through communal labor, including:
-
Clearing of the construction site
-
Trench excavation and block moulding
-
Laying of blocks
-
Fetching water for construction
-
Roofing and plastering support
This project demonstrates the power of community-driven development and the commitment of Prime Initiatives to improving lives in underserved areas.
