A Prime Initiatives Project

The My Choice, My Life (MCML) project is a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) initiative led by Prime Initiatives, aimed at empowering young people in the Banda District of Ghana.

Launched in September 2017, the project began after a baseline study was conducted to assess the needs of the target population. It focuses on young people aged 10 to 24 years, while also engaging key influencers such as parents, guardians, religious leaders, and traditional leaders to support and sustain impact.

Key Achievements:

  • Formation of “Smart Teens” Clubs in 17 basic schools

  • Establishment of Youth Clubs in 10 communities

  • Delivery of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)

  • Provision of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services

  • Youth empowerment on SRHR decision-making and rights

Target Impact:

The project aims to directly reach 7,914 young people with critical SRH information and services.

Funding:

The MCML project is uniquely self-financed through the voluntary contributions of staff and volunteers at Prime Initiatives. It has not received external donor funding, making it a testament to community-driven change and commitment.
