Promotion of Women Empowerment and Rights (POWER) Project
- Funded By: Haella Foundation
Project Overview
The POWER project is designed to champion the empowerment of girls and women by building their capacities and competencies. It focuses on Gender Mainstreaming by educating women about their rights and equipping them with the necessary tools to advocate for themselves.
Key Focus Areas
1. Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Services
Women will be educated on their rights to access quality sexual and reproductive health services, ensuring they make informed decisions about their bodies and well-being.
2. Right to Education
The project will promote girls’ education by advocating against early child marriage and supporting initiatives that encourage school enrollment and retention for young girls.
3. Right to Choose Life Partners
Women will be sensitized on their right to make their own marriage choices, free from coercion or societal pressure.
4. Right to Seek Justice
Victims of domestic and sexual violence will be educated on how to seek justice, with support from relevant institutions such as the Department of Social Welfare and the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).
5. Women’s Economic Empowerment
The project will empower women to own physical assets such as farmlands, housing lands, and other properties that belong to their families. Training and advocacy programs will be conducted to help women secure economic independence.
